All you need to know about Children’s Yoga

I deliver programmes which focus on developing: physical, social, emotional skills, self-regulating strategies to cultivate well-being and lifelong learning. Mindfulness activities and Yoga techniques are combined to empower individuals with life skills to thrive in their personal, professional and academic lives. I tailor the programmes to suit the individual needs of the class and cater for children of all needs.

The Yoga sessions link in with the National Curriculum for P.E. as they encourage children to:

  • Be physically active for sustained periods of time
  • Lead healthy, active lives
  • Be taught to develop flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance.

Introducing children to Yoga from an early age encourages self-esteem and concentration with a physical activity which is non-competitive. When children learn techniques for self-health management, relaxation and inner peace, they are better equipped to handle life’s challenges. Yoga also teaches children how to co-operate and be compassionate, which are priceless gifts to offer children. Children’s Yoga is suitable for children ages 4 to 15 years.

Each session consists of breathing meditation, warm-ups, seated, standing and lying down postures, partner work, stories, games and a guided relaxation. The sessions are set to classical music, which encourages concentration, well-balanced behavioural, the capacity to learn and take in visual messages and signs.
